Power is currently sourced from the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) and from in-house Diesel Generating Sets during power outages. The photovoltaic power would supplement power from TNEB and DG Sets with a fuel-free alternative from the proposed facility, during sunshine hours.
Currently AEDOL is implementing 1MW for Amburtec- Maligaithope CETP, 2 MW for Amburtec _ Thuthipet CETP and 3MW for VANITEC LTD, in total 6MW Solar Power Plant is being developed at V.Pudur village Vilathikulam , Thoothukudi Dist. of Tamil Nadu with subsidy from Central and State Government under IFLADP scheme.
Around 30 acres approx. of land have been procured by the CETPs for developing the solar power plant. The 6MW plant may generate 10.8 million units per year. The generated energy will be connected to the TNEB substation and the units consumed by the CETP will be adjusted as per the norms framed by TANGEDCO.
